How many portable toilets do I need for my job?
Count depends on your crew size and how long they'll be there. For construction sites, OSHA 1926.51(c)(1) requires 1 toilet facility for 20 workers or fewer; 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers from 20 up; and 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers at 200 or more. What's the difference between a standard unit and a deluxe?
A standard porta potty is a single-stall vault toilet. A deluxe flushable porta potty has a flush mechanism, a foot pump for handwashing and a better interior finish. Both stand about 92 inches tall. Deluxe costs more but users prefer it. For heavy traffic or high-end events in Fort Collins, deluxe is worth it. If budget is tight and traffic is light, standard works fine. Can I put a porta potty in the public right of way?
Placement in the public right of way in Fort Collins needs confirming with the city before you rent. We can help you understand what's allowed, but the final call is theirs. Do I need handwashing stations?
Yes, if your crew is applying paints, coatings, herbicides or insecticides. OSHA 1926.51(f)(1) requires washing facilities where those contaminants are present. A handwashing station needs soap and towels or a hand drying device per 29 CFR 1910.141(d)(2), hand sanitizer alone doesn't meet code. Are your toilets ADA accessible?
